Meetings
- RYOT members attend
quarterly statewide meetings in State College. In the past, members
have participated in roundtable discussions on sexual violence and
harassment at school and on school buses; socio-drama, improvisation
and educational theatre; how to speak to state legislators and
conducting evaluations to help direct RYOT school-based campaigns.
- Men Against Sexual
Violence Rally
- RYOT members
supported a day-long rally and press conference at the Capitol in
Harrisburg during Sexual Assault Awareness month (April). Two RYOTers
spoke during the press conference and the rest of the group spent the
day talking with their legislators about laws to make rape awareness
and prevention mandatory in schools.
- RYOT Training Retreat
- RYOT members
gathered at Robin Hill Camping Resort for a two-day training retreat.
Members participated in teambuilding exercises, finalizing the RYOT
mission, goal setting for the upcoming year and workshops on the use
of logos, grant-writing and how to respond when someone tells you that
s/he has been sexually assaulted.
- The First Annual
Conference of the National Center for Victims of Crime
- RYOT members
traveled to Washington D.C. to host a workshop on youth involvement in
preventing sexual violence. The workshop received rave reviews and as
a result, RYOT has received numerous invitations to assist other
organizations strengthen their teen programs. RYOT youth were also
recognized by U.S. Attorney General, Alberto Gonzales.
- PCAR Vision of Hope
Luncheon
- RYOT members
attended the PCAR’s first annual Vision of Hope Luncheon and presented
a gift to Governor Edward G. Rendell. Select members also participated
in a musical performance featuring J. Saint’s hottest new single,
It Stops With Us.
